Is America Suffering From Collective Illusions?

This is a must-view, folks.

One of the most important Collective Illusions we’ve ever discovered has to do with the way that people define a successful life. It turns out the vast majority of the American public believes that most people in the country care about wealth, status, and power when, in fact, the opposite is true. The vast majority of the American public is focused on a more personal fulfillment orientation but our kids are paying an incredible price because they do not understand that this is an illusion.  They try to chase fame because they believe that’s what other people will recognize as success.

Used to be a kind of one way entertainment street. You watched TV and went to movies and concerts to see the actors, artists, and musicians you liked. They put out art and you paid them to do so. And as such, the odds of you as a fan becoming famous yourself was in a word: zilch. And that worked well for a long time. But now, since the advent of the Internet as a two way street, where everyone can upload a video or even post a comment, such as right here, there has inculcated in people an expectation that anyone can have their 2 minutes of online fame, with a chance of even going viral” at which point you may levitate if not to stardom then at least some form of online gratification. Perhaps a like or heart ❤️ or two or three. Think Pavlov’s dog. The internet companies, from beginning to end, have capitalised on the public’s salivating to be liked online, that in this way has become a major challenge for society. Just my two cents worth, right here and now (with no hope of a like :-). And our youth having grown up with this norm, are most heavily impacted by the good, the bad and the ugly of it all.
