QOTD: Now the Waiting Game

A very smart someone agrees with GMM

Anyone who has observed the last two decades of history in the Middle East would think hard about unleashing such an attack. You would want to think several steps ahead, and there is no evidence that the President has done that. His tweet and his public comments have given the impression that this is the end of war and the commencement of peace, but I suspect the Iranians think differently.  – Karim Sadjadpour,  Carnegie Endowment for International Peace

This whole situation is beyond stupid. Trump has this consistent notion that he can just order a quick and easy solution to a very complex situation and everything will be resolved quickly and easily. It’s just like the “bleach will cure COVID asap” attitude. We all know how that turned out.

Anyone who thinks the bomb drops will cause the Iranians to rollover right away and cause a thousand flowers of peace to arise is fooling themselves. As the referenced quote above notes, every Middle East state over the last 20 years that was attacked by outside forces has turned into a destabilized mess. But supposedly, one “big, beautiful bomb” drop will somehow be different. God help us…..
