The discount to which Russia trades when compared to Brazil, China, and India begs the question of whether Russia is in fact a fast growing emerging economy. Whilst the consumer and financial sectors are positioned to for sustainable secular growth, corporate governance, minority investor protection, a very small domestic intuitional investor base, and the dominant role of the state in the economy unquestionably impacts the valuation of Russian financial assets.
