Holders of U.S. Public Debt

The best table we’ve seen on the U.S. government’s major creditors.  Nice compliment to our Dec11 post, Who’s Funding the U.S. Budget Deficit.  The U.S. government’s  fiscal year begins October1 and ends September 30.

    Really interesting. It should be noted that a lot of Asian sovereign purchases show up in TIC data as originating in the UK, because they’re done by brokers there; if this is from the same data set, then a lot of those UK holdings are probably actually Chinese.

    Exactly. I am sure UK purchases, include a “metric tonne” of petrodollars, also. Thanks.
