Now for Some Hope Before Christmas…

OK.  We’ve posted some gloomy pieces tonight and can’t leave you without some Hope.  Take the 10 minutes and watch it.  It will make you thankful for the memories if you’re old enough and educate you about an American cultural icon if you’re not.  Hat tip Lawrence “of America” Wagner!

I was at Ft. Wainwright, Alaska the second time Bob Hope toured Alaska. That was 1971. He hadn’t been to Alaska since WWII.

The stage was set up in a hangar. I was sitting on the left up front and I could see Bob Hope in the wings on the right. The act on stage was called Saturday’s Children. I could see Bob Hope smiling, clapping, and dancing back there offstage. He was enjoying the show as much as anyone.

I grew up with Bob Hope as a ubiquitous entertainer, especially around Christmas. He was definitely one of the great ones. The video brought back a lot of memories!
