QOTD = Quote of the Day
I’ d like to think that this is the beginning of the end of Big Tech as we know it. I think this is another example that when you have algorithms that are profit-driven, and these algorithms are different, and figure out the tribalism, and dividing us, is very profitable. And it ends up in an overrun or a seizure of the U.S. Capitol. – Prof. Scott Galloway, NYU
American big tech created vast mis-information bubbles without congressional regulation, they can pop those bubbles with congressional regulation. During the wild west of the internet, there were no taxes because they wanted to promote their use. Same as when the oil industry and automobiles were invented in the early 1900s, not much regulation if any. But as the awareness of the pollution, safety and other issues presented, congressional regulation addresses those issues and prompted innovation, which cleaned up the air and water, added seat belts and catalytic converters, improved mileage standards, clean fuels projects, etc…..you get the picture. Same needs to happen now with big tech. It can be fixed with proper regulation and follow on innovation to addresses the various issues in dire need of regulation and correction.
